About Wicker Man
About Wicker Man
Wicker Man at Alton Towers is a wooden coaster that opened in 2018, the first major woodie built in the UK in 20 years. Riders board specially-themed trains and pass three times through the burning effigy of the Wicker Man, with synchronised flame jets that fire as the train passes. The story is built around a fictional Beornen cult and the queue line and pre-show are heavily themed. Top speed 44 mph, ride duration around two and a half minutes.
Wicker Man is a crowd-pleaser more than a thrill chaser - smooth, photogenic and family-friendly above the height limit. Queues stay reasonable on most days but can reach 40-50 minutes when the park is busy. Riding at dusk on a Fright Nights evening is a different experience to a daytime ride, with the flame effects much more visible.
Wicker Man has averaged about 24 minutes of wait over recent weeks, and is typically busiest around 10:00 and quietest around 19:00. Over the last two weeks it has been open around 95% of the park's operating hours. It's typically quietest on Thursdays and busiest on Saturdays.
